Michelle Landis opens with the Jesus Storybook Bible telling of Pentecost, God Sends Help, then walks through Romans 8:9-17 to answer three questions: who the Holy Spirit is, why we have him, and what he does in us. The Spirit is not a force but a person, one part of the Trinity, who indwells every believer and replaces self with new life.

She describes the Spirit as our comforter, present with those walking through terrible things, convicting of sin and leading toward repentance, and supplying supernatural power for God’s purposes. When God seems distant or hard to recognize, her counsel is to slow down, ask the Spirit for clarity, and be still as he draws near, because we do not control him.

The invitation of the message is to draw near to God, who already knows us, and to discover that knowing him at deeper levels comes as he calls us into what makes us fully alive.
