Guest speaker Andy (from Mennonite Life, formerly the Mennonite Historical Society) explores what makes a good story through the lens of Living Light’s own church history and the broader Anabaptist tradition. Drawing from the archives of Masonville Mennonite Church (the congregation’s roots dating to 1760), early missionary letters, and a prison letter from Anabaptist founder Michael Sattler written on the eve of his execution, he identifies three themes that have sustained the Mennonite story across centuries: faithfulness to Christ, obedience to His teachings, and compassion for neighbors. The sermon closes with the reminder that these same three words, written by a martyred ancestor from his cell, are still being embodied by the church today.
